fledgling

there is a little fledgling on the ground...

i went over to check on the ac unit on the side of the house, and was moving the ivy...thinking about moving that little bit of stuff to the curb...

then there was commotion.

and this tiny perfectly feathered baby bird comes jumping out of the leaves and on to the ground where it scurries under some ivy.

parent birds are all around at this point...shrieking in bird whistles...

and so i came back inside...resolved to give him a few more days before i clean out his safe spot.

but i will be watching. in case it isn't safe.

i was very disappointed when all the cardinal eggs got eaten or blown out...and this is the only fledgling i have seen so far this year.

good luck to the little baby bird...

it is a great big scary world, especially when all you have is one ivy leaf to hide under.
