i laid on the sidewalk as the image of reverse lights burned itself out of my cornea. small pebble digging in to a shoulder blade. can see parts of the big dipper between the tree branches. can feel the tide a thousand miles away. would not mind drifting out to sea. dogs curious and barking. inside a playlist waiting to be played. a last smoke seeking the flare of a lighter. a lesser known pearl jam song tangling my mind up in yarn.

it does a little dance, it's own private dance. bounces rhythms across the globe and flashes in and out of sight.

like catching the northern lights in off season.

i am sketchy, i am barely even here.

somewhere between squirrels with makeup and the west with history, my mind goes on holiday to turkey with chicago playing an outdated soundtrack, and i just refuse to come back.
